About us
Our campsite is small and cozy, surrounded by nature, mountains, and village life in every direction. The beautiful Loelva River flows by, and the gentle sound of the water is our very own melody. The reception and service building have traditional turf roofs and are built from timber from our own farm.
The pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes are laid out on terraces at different levels, creating an airy and peaceful atmosphere. We have kept the natural surroundings intact, with lush trees, wild blueberries, strawberries, and flowers framing the grounds. And when the weather is good, the sun stays with us all day long – from morning until evening.
Our campsite is family-run, with three generations of the Tjugen family here to welcome you – led by Kristin and Bengt Are. Our wish is that you feel truly at home, enjoy your stay, and find our facilities both inviting and well cared for. Most of all, we hope you will find peace and relaxation here in Loen!
the history
Lill Berit and Knut Johan Tjugen were only 21 and 24 years old when they founded Tjugen Camping in 1973. The campsite lies on the edge of the Tjugen farm and was a wonderful addition to the farming life. Over the years they raised three children – Kristin, Sølvi, and Anders – all of whom grew up here at the campsite in one way or another.
In 2021, their eldest daughter Kristin moved back home after many years in Stavanger and Jæren, and together with her husband, Bengt Are, she took over the running of the campsite. Bengt Are, a city boy from Stavanger, embraced both camping life and village life with open arms – but always kept a soft spot for guests from Rogaland (where he's from). 😉
In 2023, we celebrated a joyful 50th anniversary with many guests and friends gathered for a wonderful midsummer celebration by the river.
As our guest today, you will meet three generations of the Tjugen family – all working to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We hope you will feel just as at home here in our beautiful village as we do.
Welcome to Tjugen Camping!
